Episode Business Music Solution (EBMS) Setup & Integration

Episode Business Music Solution (EBMS) brings the Episode sound trusted by professionals worldwide to enterprise-level audio for commercial spaces. To help with your next project, we’re sharing a full tech overview of the EBMS ecosystem — built for retail, hospitality, and corporate spaces, simplifying complex matrix routing and local control.

Core Hardware Architecture

Digital Signal Processors (DSPs) Purpose-built for commercial audio, with high-powered processing and matrixing. Support up to 16 sources (balanced/unbalanced, mic, or line-level) routed to up to 8 zones. MoIP- and OvrC-enabled. Input and output EQ, plus mic processing features like ducking, compression, gating, and de-essing, give installers precise control over gain structure, frequency response, and dynamic behavior.

Amplifiers & Mixamps Selectable 70V / 100V / 4Ω / 8Ω outputs. Amplifiers handle high-capacity zones (up to 350W per channel); compact Mixamps combine matrix mixing and amplification for smaller standalone installs.

IP54-Rated Local Wall Plates IP network-based accessories that run back to your switch, eliminating long analog home runs. Options include local Zone Controllers (source/volume), Bluetooth receivers, XLR mic inputs, RCA inputs, and active SPL sensors that auto-adjust zone volume based on ambient room noise

Key System Integration Requirements

If deploying EBMS with Control4 or over an IP network, confirm your systems meet these minimum versions. Always check OvrC for the latest firmware, and keep it up to date.

EcosystemComponent / DriverMinimum Version
Control4Control4 OSOS 4.1.0.473847 or higher
Control4EBMS Driver & Mixer Proxyv.281 (auto-loads Mixer Proxy v.70)
Control4UI Button Drivers (Mic, Mix, Bluetooth, Media Player, Sound Mask) — optionalv.3
Binary MoIPMoIP Controller FirmwareFW 4.5.4 or higher
Binary MoIPMoIP Driverv.321 or higher

Binary MoIP & Ryff Integration

EBMS hardware integrates directly into your network-based AV ecosystem:

  • MoIP Audio: EBMS DSPs fully support MoIP audio Rx and Tx paths. With a Binary MoIP Controller, they integrate seamlessly into existing MoIP 900 or MoIP 960 systems.
  • Ryff Audio Streaming: DSPs can receive Ryff audio streams over the MoIP network from any active Ryff-enabled device on-site.
  • Wall Plate Transmitters: Bluetooth (WP-BT), RCA (WP-RCA), and Zone (WP-ZONE) wall plates function natively as network audio transmitters when paired with a Binary MoIP Controller.

Sound Masking Applications

Beyond zone audio, EBMS supports sound masking via the optional Sound Mask UI driver — useful for open-plan offices, healthcare settings, and any space needing acoustic privacy alongside background music.
